Etymology [edit]

From Middle Low German dingesdach, dingschedach, from *þingsus-dagaz ‘day of Thingsus’, northern epithet of Zio whose name is preserved in Alemannish Zistig, Ziestag from Old High German zīestag.[1]. Compare Low German Dingsdag, Dutch dinsdag.
