seminal work[edit]

The wordiness of the definition does not make this any the less SoP. A seminal work is a work (noun) that is (deprecated template usage) seminal. DCDuring TALK 04:54, 6 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Of the more than 1100(!) uses of seminal followed immediately by a noun in COCA, more than 1050(!!!) are in not in the biological sense. About 250 different nouns follow. Among my favorites is "seminal bike zines". Work is the most common with 142 uses. DCDuring TALK 12:18, 6 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Delete per nom as SOP. bd2412 T 22:49, 6 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Delete further evidence that it's SOP is that one can refer to someone's "early, seminal work" in a field without mentioning a specific work. If it were a set phrase, you wouldn't have both countable and uncountable constructions. Chuck Entz (talk) 23:08, 6 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
