From the compounding of the inseperable be- and Old High German eindrucchan (today eindrücken), from the compounding of the prefix ein- and Old High German drucchan, from Proto-Germanic *þrukjaną (to press), from Proto-Indo-European *trūk- (to press). Compare Danish trykke, English thrutch, Dutch drukken.
