Etym. 1 matches 熨 (ancient form 尉) well: Old Chinese *qud(s) "to press; to flatten; to iron; to apply" > MC /ʔɨut̚, ʔʉiH/, SV uất, uý. "ủi" is a regular Early Sino-Vietnamese word from OC *quds. undo
