    non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese (SV: điểm) yet Old Chinese */e/, even before labials, usually correspond Vietnamese front, unrounded vowels ‹e› /ɛ/ (e.g. rèm (OC *rem)) or ‹ê› /e/ (e.g. đếm (OC*tˤemʔ)), instead of back, round vowel ‹ô› /o/.”
