Navajo[edit]

Etymology[edit]

łi- ‎(adjectival prefix) + -Ø- ‎(3rd person subject prefix) + -Ø- ‎(classifier) + -chííʼ ‎(to be red, imperfective verb stem). The łi- prefix appears to have originated historically from the -ł- classifier. Compare Dogrib dekʼo, Ahtna ltʼeli.
