Etymology

Learnedly from αερο- (aero-) +‎ Ancient Greek στέγ(ω) (stég(ō), to cover hermetically) +‎ -ής (-ís), a calque of English airtight. Formed analogously to υδατοστεγής (ydatostegís).[1]
