Etymology

Learned borrowing from Koine Greek ἀπόχρωσις (apókhrōsis, adding color) + the modern suffix -ση (-si), from ἀπό- (apó-) + the root underlying χρώς (khrṓs, complexion) + -σις (-sis), with semantic loan from French coloration.[1]
