αἰγίλωψ
Ancient Greek
Etymology
2=h₂eyǵPlease see Module:checkparams for help with this warning.
Unclear. The oak sense has been argued from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eyǵ- (“oak”)

However, the haver-grass sense has been argued to derive from αἴγιλος (aígilos), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eyǵ- (“goat”).
For the lachrymal fistula sense, see also ἀγχίλωψ (ankhílōps).
