Ancient Greek

Etymology

Probably from Proto-Indo-European *(s)mer- (to remember). Cognate with Ancient Greek μνήμη (mnḗmē, memory) μέρμερος (mérmeros, anxious), Old English mimor (mindful, remembering) and Latin memor (mindful).
