Etymology[edit]
Perfect participle of μαθαίνομαι (mathaínomai), passive voice of μαθαίνω (mathaíno).
Stem μαθη- + suffix for passive perfect -μένος (-ménos) from ancient verb μανθάνω (manthánō, “I understand”).[1]
