Ancient Greek

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *men- (to think). Compare μαίνομαι (maínomai), μιμνήσκω (mimnḗskō), as well as Sanskrit मन्यते (mányate), Sanskrit म्ना (√mnā), whence Sanskrit मनति (manati, remember, repeat in the mind), Old Church Slavonic мьнѣти (mĭněti) and Lithuanian miniu.
