Etymology

Cognate with πομφόλυξ, πομφολύζω. Probably related to ἡ πέμφιξ, τῆς πέμφῑγος “blast, breath, bubble”. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
