Etymology

ραύγω (rávgo) is the mediaeval form. From the ancient ῥάπτω from the perfective stem ραψ- in the pattern of -ψ- > -β- as in κλέπτω (klépto), κλεψ- > κλέβω (klévo, steal).[1]
