Cognate with Old Irish selg, Lithuanian blužnis, Latin lien, Old Armenian փայծաղն (pʻaycałn), Avestan 𐬯𐬞𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬰𐬀𐬥 (spərəzan), and Sanskrit प्लीहन् m (plīhán).
