Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

A nasal-infixed and -suffixed present from Proto-Indo-European *gʰed- (to seize, grasp, take). Compare λαμβάνω (lambánō). Cognate with Latin prehendo, English get.

Pronunciation[edit]

 

Mark the vowel length of the ambiguous vowels α and ά by adding a macron after each of them if they are long, or a breve if they are short. By default, Module:grc-pronunciation assumes they are short if unmarked.
