[edit]Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic прѣтварꙗти (prětvarjati). By surface analysis, пре- (pre-) + тво́р- (tvór-) + -я́ть (-játʹ). Doublet of native dialectal перетворя́ть (peretvorjátʹ).
