Suffix[edit]

-я́ть or -ять (-játʹ or -jatʹ)

  1. The infinitive suffix for many verbs. Usually indicates an imperfective verb. Often used to derive imperfective verbs from prefixed perfective verbs in -ить (-itʹ), and triggers iotation.
