Russian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Often thought to come from с- (s-) +‎ моро́зить (morózitʹ, to freeze), with the meaning "to make someone freeze from the stupid words spoken".

Alternatively, derived from с- (s-) + μωρός (mōrós, stupid) (cf. moron) + -ить (-itʹ) in seminarian argot.
