Old Armenian[edit]

Cognates include Avestan 𐬁𐬙𐬀𐬭𐬱 (ātarš, fire), Middle Persian [script?] (ātur) (Persian آدر (ādar)), perhaps also Latin āter (black, dark), Irish áith (kiln), Palaic [script?] (hā-, to be hot).
