Old Armenian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]A "kind of a scrap-heap" of several Proto-Indo-European formations, including old thematic presents like բերեմ (berem, “I carry”) ← *bʰér-e-ti; ye-presents like ջնջեմ (ǰnǰem, “I wipe, destroy”) ← *gʷʰén-ye-ti (see *-yeti); causative-iteratives as գործեմ (gorcem, “I work”) ← *worǵ-éye-ti (see *-éyeti). By surface analysis, -ե- (-e-, stem vowel) + -մ (-m).
