Relative adjective (nisba) composed of رُوح(rūḥ, spirit) +‎ ـَانـ(-ān-) +‎ ـِيّ(-iyy), from the root ر و ح(r-w-ḥ). Cognate with Hebrew רוח(ruaħ, spirit, wind).
