Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Persian 𐭯𐭥𐭥𐭮𐭩𐭲𐭭 (pursīdan), from Old Persian 𐎱𐎼𐎿𐎠𐎷𐎹 (p-r-s-a-mi-y /⁠pạrsāmiy⁠/, to ask, punish, 1sg.pres.act.), from Proto-Iranian *pr̥sáti[1], from Proto-Indo-European *pr̥sḱéti. Proto-Indo-European cognates include Kurdish Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "ku" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E., Sanskrit पृच्छति (pṛccháti), Armenian հարց (harcʻ), Latin posco and Old English frignan.
