Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Iranian *čiš-čid / *čiš-čit, from Proto-Iranian *čiš + a suffix *čit of unknown, possibly reduplicative, origin. The former component is from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kíš, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷis, *kʷos (“who, which, what”).[1][2]
