Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yabgan (“unpleasant”); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (yavgan) and Chagatai [script needed] (yavan).

- tasteless, insipid, bland, having no flavor
- (figuratively, of words) empty, meaningless, devoid of sincerity
