Etymology

    Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰerǵʰ- (high), via Latin burgus or Ancient Greek πύργος (púrgos). The sense of "zodiac sign" is influenced by Arabic بُرْج (burj), itself borrowed from Syriac.
