Etymology

From Old Marathi खांब (khāṃba), from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "pmh" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E., from Sanskrit स्कम्भ (skambhá, pillar; support; prop), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *skambʰás. Cognate with Gujarati ખંભ (khambh, pillar), ખંભો (khambho, pillar), Nepali खम्बा (khambā, pillar; pole), खामो (khāmo, pillar; post; stake; prop) and possibly Tibetan ཀ་བ (ka ba).
