Inherited from Old Marathi गाढव (gāḍhava), गाढौ (gāḍhau), गाढोऊ (gāḍhoū), गाढउ (gāḍhaü), गाडौ (gāḍau), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀕𑀟𑁆𑀟𑀳 (gaḍḍaha), 𑀕𑀤𑁆𑀤𑀳 (gaddaha), from Sanskrit गर्दभ (gardabha). Cognate to Konkani गाढू (gāḍhū) and Awadhi गदहा (gadhā).
