Borrowed from Classical Persian جهاز (jahāz), from Arabic جَهَاز (jahāz). Compare Assamese জাহাজ (zahaz), Bengali জাহাজ (jahaj), Gujarati જહાજ (jahāj), Marathi जहाज (jahāj), Punjabi ਜਹਾਜ਼ (jahāz).
