Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀧𑀓𑁆𑀔 (pakkha), from Sanskrit पक्ष (pakṣá). Doublet of पाँख (pā̃kh) and पंखा (paṅkhā).[1]

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘰𑘏 (pākha), 𑘢𑘰𑘽𑘏 (pāṃkha), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀓𑁆𑀔 (pakkha), 𑀧𑀁𑀔 (paṃkha) (with nasalisation), from Sanskrit पक्ष (pakṣá). Related to पंखा (paṅkhā, “fan”). Doublet of पक्ष (pakṣa). Compare Gujarati પાંખ (pā̃kh), Hindustani پَنکھ / पंख (paṅkh), Punjabi ਪੰਖ (paṅkh) / پَنکھ (pankh), Nepali प्वाँख (pwā̃kh), Oriya ପଙ୍ଖା (pôṅkha).[1]
