From Old Marathi 𑘦𑘰𑘭𑘰 (māsā), 𑘦𑘔 (macha), 𑘦𑘓𑘿𑘔 (maccha), from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "pmh" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E., from Sanskrit मत्स्य (mátsya), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *mátsyas. Doublet of मत्स्य (matsya). Cognate with Hindi मच्छ (macch), Sindhi مَڇُ / मछु (machu), Punjabi ਮੱਛ (maccha), Nepali माछा (māchā), Odia ମାଛ (mācha), Bengali মাছ (mach), Assamese মাছ (mas).
