From Proto-Indo-Aryan *Hrámatay, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hrámatay, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rém-e-ti, from *h₁rem- (to rest). Cognate with Ancient Greek ἔρᾰμαι (éramai), Lithuanian rìmti.
