Borrowed from Classical Persian دل (dil). Cognate with Assamese ডিল (dil), Odia ଦିଲ (dila), Maithili दिल (dil), Hindi दिल (dil), Marathi दिल (dil), Gujarati દિલ (dil), Marwari दिल (dil), Punjabi ਦਿਲ (dil), Sindhi دِلُ (dilu). Doublet of হৃৎ (hrit), হৃদয় (hridoẏ), and হার্ট (harṭ).
