- அவன் என்னைச் சிரிக்க வைத்தான்.
- avaṉ eṉṉaic cirikka vaittāṉ.
- He made me laugh.
- (auxiliary) used with a transitive verb to express an action with some future purpose
- கதவைத் திறந்து வை.
- katavait tiṟantu vai.

Usage notes
[edit]Both வை (vai) and போடு (pōṭu) can be translated as "put", but the former refers to careful, deliberate placing while the latter is somewhat reckless.
