Etymology 2

[edit]
This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.
Particularly: “Seems like a semantic extension of the "purse" sense of Etymology 1, though what's the semantic development? Do fare collectors in Thailand generally collect fare in bags?”

Noun

[edit]

กระเป๋า (grà-bpǎo)

  1. (colloquial, informal) fare collector (on bus or boat)
Usage notes
[edit]

In formal speech, use พนักงานเก็บค่าโดยสาร(pá-nák-ngaan gèp kâa-dooi-sǎan) instead.
