From Sanskrit परम (parama, most distant, last; highest, best, most excellent, greatest; chief, principal, supreme; etc) or Pali parama (highest; most excellent; superior; best). Cognate with Khmer បរម (bɑrom), Lao ບໍລົມ (bǭ lom), ບໍຣົມ (bǭ rom).
