Etymology 1[edit]

the reliquary

From corruption of ลัมภางค์ (lam-paang, literally body of Lampha; embodiment of Lampha), which a Buddhist legend says was the name that Gautama Buddha gave the place when he stayed in a forest called Lampha (ลัมพะ) or Lamphakari (ลัมพการี).[1]
