Etymology

Derived from Old Khmer cheta chāya (“charmingly beautiful”), from cheta (cheta, “charming”) + chāya (chāya, “beautiful”), equivalent to Thai compound of เฉิด (chə̀ət) +‎ ฉาย (chǎai). Cognate with Modern Khmer ឆើតឆាយ (chaətchaay).
