Etymology 1

Onomatopoeia, in imitation of the sound of someone gagging (compare English gag), or the sound of someone burping.

1. (dated) gaggingly, heavingly

   朝(あさ)から何(なん)にも食(た)べていないので、げいげいと吐(は)くものは飲(の)んだ水(みず)と黄(き)色(いろ)い液(えき)体(たい)ばかりであった。

   Asa kara nanni mo tabete inai no de, geigei to haku mono wa nonda mizu to kīroi ekitai bakari de atta.

   I hadn't had anything at all to eat since morning, so what I gaggingly threw up was just the water I drank and a yellow liquid.

2. (dated) belchingly, burpingly
