Etymology[edit]
Literary Chinese, from the phrase 是故治世之音安以樂其政和 in chapter 樂記 (“Record of Music”) of the Book of Rites. The wa changes to na as an instance of renjō (連声).
Proper noun[edit]
- (historical) the name of an era that encompasses the reign of Emperor Reizei and Emperor En'yū, from Julian August 13 968 to March 25 970
