Etymology[edit]

Orthographic borrowing from Japanese 異状(いじょう)() (ijō nashi, no abnormalities, nothing abnormal). Equivalent to 이상(異狀) (isang, abnormality) + 무(無) (mu, nonexistence).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈi(ː)sʰa̠ŋ mu]
  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː) ]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
