Borrowed from Italian gazzetta, from Venetan gazeta.

غزته (gazeta or gazete) (definite accusative غزته‌یی (gazetayı), plural غزته‌لر (gazetalar))

  1. journal, newspaper, gazette, a publication, usually published daily or weekly, containing news and other articles
    Synonyms: جریده (ceride), روزنامه (ruzname)
    • 1929 December 24, 19th century cartoon reprinted in Yarın with modern Turkish added:
      هر غزته‌نك كندینه مخصوص بر مسلكی وار.
      Her gazetenin kendisine mahsus bir mesleği var.
      Every newspaper has its own kind of occupation.
