Etymology

Borrowed from French -ette.

Suffix

-et-

  1. denotes diminution of degree
    urbo (city) + ‎-et- → ‎urbeto (town)
    ridi (to laugh) + ‎-et- → ‎rideti (to smile)

Usage notes

Unlike most Esperanto suffixes, -et- does not affect the part of speech of the root.
