Etymology

Borrowed from Idiom Neutral -imFrench -ièmeItalian -imoSpanish -imo. Compare -esma from the same source. Decision no. 1219, Progreso VII.

Suffix

-imo

  1. used to form fractions
    quar (four) + ‎-imo → ‎quarimo (a quarter, a fourth)
    du (two) + ‎-imo → ‎duimo (a half)
    cent (hundred) + ‎-imo → ‎centimo (a hundredth part)
