Etymology

Derived from the active present participle of verbs (suffix -va) in the essive case (suffix -na).

Suffix

-vinaan (front vowel harmony variant -vinään, linguistic notation -vinAAn)

1. Indicates pretended or suggested action; multiple English equivalents.

   Olen tekevinäni työtä, ja työnantaja on maksavinaan minulle palkkaa.

   I pretend to work and my employer pretends to pay me a salary.

   Mikä oikein olet olevinasi?

   Who do you think you are?

   Olin kuulevinani askelia alakerrasta.

   I think I heard steps from downstairs.
