From Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷḱus, neuter participle of *kʷekʷóḱe ~ *kʷekʷḱḗr, perfect of *kʷeḱ- (“to see”), whence also Sanskrit चक्षति (cákṣati, “he sees”).[1]
