From Proto-Iranian [Term?] (compare Avestan 𐬥𐬅𐬨𐬀𐬥 (ną̇̇man-)), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hnāman- (compare Sanskrit नामन् (nā́man)), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁nómn̥ (name) (compare Hittite 𒆷𒀀𒈠𒀭 (lāman), Old Armenian անուն (anun), Ancient Greek ὄνομα (ónoma), Latin nōmen, Tocharian A ñom, and Old English nama (English name)).
