Translations

Middle French

Etymology

From Old French avancer, with the -d- added to reflect the Latin prefix ad- (which was an erroneous hypercorrection as the etymon for this term, abante, did not contain a -d-).

Verb

advancer

  1. to advance (to move forwards)

Conjugation

  • As parler except c becomes ç before a and o. May remain c in older manuscripts.
