Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *kara (“black”)[1].

Cognates include Kazakh қара (qara), Kyrgyz, Tatar кара (kara), Azeri qara, Turkish kara, Turkmen gara, Uzbek qora, Uyghur قارا (qara, “black”).
