Etymology
From Latin dē (“from”) + novō (“new”), possibly a restructured inherited form of Classical Latin dēnuō (“again, anew”), itself a reduced form of a supposed and unattested Old Latin *dē novōd. Related to Medieval Latin dē novō (“afresh, as a new thing, out of nowhere”). Compare Old Spanish de nuevo.
